ABOUT TSURUYA YOSHINOBU
Tsuruya Yoshinobu has a history of more than two hundred ten years as the most famous confectionery shop in Kyoto. It also has served as the specialty shop for the ancient Imperial Household and the head masters of tea ceremony in Kyoto since it was established in 1803. Our head store building we would like to introduce to you was built in 1994 according to traditional architectural style of the mercantile houses in Kyoto, with which the streets had once been regularly lined since ages ago. In the building you shall find a nice tea ceremony room and garden on the second floor. Please feel at home and taste our various kinds of confectionery.
WHAT IS "KYOGASHI?"
Kyogashi is Kyoto-style Japanese sweets. Kyogashi's delicacy of taste, beauty and artistic uniqueness were established in the Edo Era. Kyogashi was developed during the revival of aristocratic culture and the flourishing of the tea ceremony. There are many temples and shrines in Kyoto, and they have used traditional sweets in their festivals and ceremonies. Kyogashi values the four seasons, cultivating a sense of beauty. Today, Kyogashi is considered the best Japanese sweets.

CORPORATE INFORMATION
In 1803, Tsuruya Yoshinobu was founded by Tsuruya Ihei. The family rule is, ヨキモノヲツクル為 ニ材料、手間ヒマヲ惜シマヌ事 "When we make good things, we never compromise about anything." We follow this long-established tradition. Kyogashi expresses the four seasons through our five senses: shape and color by eyes, a sweet’s name by ears, its good smell by nose, the texture by hands, and the taste by mouth. Kyogashi represents Kyoto’s refined food culture, which we are dedicated to preserving and refining.
